We provide compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric care to those suffering with mental health difficulties

Psychiatric Assessments

As a new patient, your treatment begins with a comprehensive, 60-minute assessment that explores the concerns that bring you to treatment. Our psychiatrists are expert clinicians with experience treating a variety of psychiatric conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Mood disorders, including depression and bipolar disorder

  • Anxiety disorders, including generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and obsessive-compulsive disorder

  • Psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder

  • Trauma-related disorders, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

We will help you understand your diagnosis and develop a personalized treatment plan to address your symptoms. If you are better served by receiving care elsewhere, we will provide you with referrals for alternative treatment providers.

After your initial appointment, you will continue to meet with us for follow-up appointments, if appropriate. At these visits, we will discuss your progress, refill medications, explore options for additional treatment, and modify your treatment plan if needed. Follow-up appointments at Prestonwood Health are scheduled for 30 minutes to ensure that we have adequate time to address your concerns.

Please note that we do not treat patients younger than 18.

Psychotherapy

Many challenges that we face in our lives can’t be fixed with a pill. While medications are beneficial for many psychiatric conditions, psychotherapy offers a unique opportunity to learn about yourself and strive towards mental wellness. We strongly believe in the benefits of psychotherapy, thus we incorporate elements of psychotherapy into every visit, including medication management visits.

The role of psychotherapy in your treatment will be discussed during your initial assessment. If you are interested in beginning more extensive psychotherapeutic treatment, appointments are typically scheduled for 50-minute sessions weekly. For some patients, more frequent meetings may be recommended.

Second Opinion Consultations

Do you already have a psychiatric provider but want a fresh perspective on your psychiatric care? At Prestonwood Health, we can meet with you for a one-time, comprehensive psychiatric assessment to clarify your diagnosis, answer any questions you have, and provide recommendations for your treatment moving forward. With your consent, we can communicate our findings and recommendations to your primary psychiatric provider and electronically share your Prestonwood Health records with them.
